Past Exhibitions at HITE Collection
There are 194 drawings, one for each country in the world, depicting a woman from the neck down, naked and in x-ray style so that we can see she is pregnant. From her belly there is procession of small babies towards either the right or left bottom corner, and then presumably out of the frame, as if to illustrate a statement Bouabré had made some years before: “Whether you come from America, Africa, Asia or elsewhere, I show through my work that we are all part of this same entity, just as two or three same children suckled at the breast of the same mother are part of the same body. Because we are all created by the earth, we are truly related in terms of race and colour.”

‹친애하는 인간의 탄생› 연작은 194개의 드로잉으로 구성되어 있고, 각각의 드로잉은 한 나라를 상징한다. 이 드로잉들은 나체의 여인의 목 아랫부분 이하를 그리고 있는데, 엑스레이처럼 몸 내부까지 투사해서 볼 수 있기 때문이 우리는 그녀가 임신했음을 알 수 있다. 화면에는 그녀의 복부에서부터 왼쪽 바닥이나 오른쪽으로 향하는, 아마도 프레임 밖으로 향하는 작은 아기들의 행렬이 있다. 그것은 마치 부아브레의 몇 년 전 발언의 예시인 듯 하다. “당신이 미국, 아프리카, 아시아나 다른 곳에서 왔든, 나는 작품을 통해 우리가 이 동일한 생명체의 모든 부분이라는 것을 보여준다. 둘이나 세 명의 아기들이 동일한 어머니의 젖을 빨고 있는 것이 동일한 몸의 일부라고 하는 것처럼 말이다. 우리는 모두 땅에서 창조되었기 때문에 엄밀히 말해 모든 인종과 피부색은 서로 연관이 있다.”
