장재민이 그리는 풍경은 기억 속에서 모호하게 자리 잡고 있는 무채색의 공간이다. 작가는 풍경이 시간의 흐름에 따라서 변질 또는 왜곡되고, 모호하게 인식되는데 관심을 갖는다. 그의 무채색 화면은 탈색된 기억과도 같고, 거칠고 빠른 붓놀림은 흘러간 시간성을 반영한다. 또한 정확히 인지되지 않는 장소와 풍경에서 완전히 분리되지 않은 인물들이나 흔들리는 동작은 미처 인식하지 못한 유동의 시공간을 보여준다.
Jaemin Jang ’s landscapes are monochrome spaces vaguely placed in his memories. Jang is interested on how a landscape becomes remote and distorted to our perception, through the course of time. Jang’s black and white landscape resembles faded memories, while his speedy and rough brush strokes represent a sense of time past. The blurred movements and figures not completely contoured from places and landscapes that are equally unidentifiable, suggest us the fluidity of time and space, yet to be fully recognized.
