정은영의 ‹던진 케이크›와 ‹굴린 김밥›은 명백한 액션 페인팅이다. 작가는 유화물감으로 케이크와 김밥을 그럴듯하게 만든 후 캔버스 위에 내동댕이 치거나 더 이상 물감이 캔버스에서 밀리지 않을 때까지 굴린다. 분식점 한 켠의 모형 음식과도 같은 김밥 한 줄은 캔버스 위에서 완전히 닳아 없어질 때까지 굴리고 문질러짐으로써 소박한 한 끼에서 존재감 있는 회화로 탄생하게 된다.
Jeong Eun Young’s Throw Cakes and Roll a Gimbap are obviously action paintings. Jeong made mock-ups of cake and a gimbap – rice roll – with oil color to throw or roll them onto the canvas until no color is left. The gimbap reminds of fake dishes displayed at a corner of a snack bar; being rolled on canvas till the point it gets completely consumed, it is reborn as a significant piece of painting, from a cheap meal.
