Jinyoung Koh’s photographs are not categorized as landscapes, still life, snapshots, nor straight photography. But his works extend the viewer’s thoughts infinitely by the structural deconstruction of photographic apparatus along with unfixed concepts of nature, artificiality, death, life, myths, daily life, illusion, migration, conversion, facticity, manipulation, and etc.
Koh received B.F.A. from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and his Photo & Media M.F.A. at the California Institute of the Arts focused on photography. He is a graduate student of the Arts & Humanities department at Columbia University. His work has been recognized with awards including the 2012 Myers Art Prize of Columbia University, the 2010 Philadelphia Museum of Art Portfolio, and the PX3 Grand Prix Award 2010 and he was also selected for the 2008 Artist in Residence at the Burren College of Art in Newtown Castle, Ireland. His work has been exhibited in Paris, New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Illinois, Washington, Pennsylvania, Ireland, and South Korea.

고진영의 사진작업은 풍경, 정물, 스냅샷, 연출사진 등의 형식에 구애 받지 않으며, 사진적 장치의 구조를 해체하고 더불어 자연, 인공, 죽음, 생명, 신화 등 고정되지 않는 개념으로 보는 이의 사고를 무한 확장시킨다.
시카고 아트 인스티튜트 학사 졸업, 캘리포니아 예술대학의 사진과 미디어 석사 학위를 받았다. 현재 뉴욕 컬럼비아 대학교 예술인문학 대학원 과정에 있으며, 2012 컬럼비아 대학교 마이어스 재단과 2010년 필라델피아 미술관 포트폴리오 대상에 선정되어 수상금 수여, 전시 및 영구 소장되었으며, 아일랜드 국립대학 연계 레지던시 작가로 참여한바 있다. 고진영의 작업은 미국의 여러 도시를 포함해 프랑스, 아일랜드, 한국 등에서 전시 되었다.
