작가 박종호는 어릴 적 자기 자신과 동생, 그리고 아버지의 모습을 현재의 자신과 두 아들의 모습을 통해 투영시키곤 하는데, 밤하늘에 수놓는 불꽃놀이를 바라보는 세 부자는 자신의 아버지와 형제, 그리고 자녀들의 모습이 중첩되어 있음으로써 작가의 과거와 현재가 겹쳐 있다. 이는 그가 우울했던 과거의 기억과 화해하면서 동시에 거부할 수 없는 현실과 부딪치며 살아가는 방법이기도 하다. 그는 사진이 환기시키는 감정이나 스냅 샷들이 포착한 감수성을 캔버스 위로 옮기는 방식을 취하는데, 그럼으로써 그의 회화는 불안하고 어두운 세계에 압도 당하는 인간 존재에 대한 기록이 된다.
Projecting his childhood memory with his father and younger brother onto his own children, the image of a father with two sons staring at the firework at night overlays the different timelines from his life, as son, brother and father. For Park, this is a method to get through the irreversibility of time and reconcile with the depressing memories of the past, finally to confront the present. He transfers the sentiments evoked by photography as well as transmitted by snaps onto the canvas, through which his painting transcends to a surface recording the human existence overwhelmed by uncertainties and obscurities in the world.
