HITE Collection is pleased to present Jiwon Kim’s solo exhibition entitled Like the Wind, from December 9, 2011 through February 17, 2012. HITE Foundation was founded in 2007, opening the two first exhibitions Jinkyu Kwon: Exile, Eternal – Internal and Doho Suh: In-Yeon at HITE Collection located inside the headquarter of Hitejinro Co., Ltd., Seoul. As HITE Collection aims to exhibit not only its permanent collection of artworks but also diverse types and forms of contemporary art, Jiwon Kim’s recent paintings will provide another opportunity to encounter the Korean contemporary painting.
Through Like the Wind, the artist introduces his new series of paintings and drawings that portray the landscapes of islands and seashores he has visited during the past years. The catalog, Like the Wind, accompanying this exhibition covers his entire works from the 1980s until now, and also includes essays written by the two art critics, Sumi Kang and Wankyung Sung, in order to allow a better understanding of Kim’s works. This exhibition overall demonstrates his journey of painting and drawing as a painter.

하이트컬렉션은 2011년 12월 김지원의 개인전 «바람처럼»을 개최한다. 2007년 설립된 하이트문화재단은 지난 2010년 10월 하이트진로주식회사의 청담동 본사 내에 전시장을 조성하여 하이트컬렉션을 개관하였고 «권진규 : 탈주»와 «서도호 : 인연»을 개관전으로 개최한 바 있다. 소장품을 바탕으로 한 전시와 더불어 다양한 형태의 현대미술 기획전을 준비하고 있는 하이트컬렉션은 2011년 하반기 기획전으로 김지원 작가의 신작 전시를 마련하였다.
김지원의 개인전 «바람처럼»에서는 작가가 최근 몇 년간 유랑했던 섬과 해변 지역의 바다 풍경을 담은 페인팅과 드로잉 신작들을 소개한다. 전시와 함께 출간되는 김지원의 책 『바람처럼』은 1980년대부터 현재에 이르는 작가의 전 작업을 망라하였고 작가의 글을 비롯, 평론가 강수미와 성완경의 글을 수록하여 작업을 보다 다각적으로 이해하도록 돕는다. 본 전시와 출판물을 통해, 그간 화가로서 그림과 그리기에 대해 지속적으로 고민하고 그 고민을 화면에 담아 온 김지원의 작업 여정을 보여주고자 한다.
